Distribution methods:

The Walking Dead was created by AMC studios which is a Subsidiary company who are owned by American Movie Classics (AMC), they had help from co-production companies like Circle of Confusion, Valhalla Motion Pictures and Darkwoods Productions. In America they show it on their own channel, this means that they don't have to hire a specific channel to share their product. They do however like to show The Walking Dead in the UK a day after American release, they show it on the channel FOX which means that they have to rent out the channel and a time slot for the showing.

AMC also create box sets for the show after each season is released, which does mean that they have to put all the episodes onto a bunch of DVDs and send them out to distributors like supermarkets, online stores or things like iTunes. After a couple of months of a seasons finale, AMC add that series to Netflix which means they have to create a contract for the time Netflix can show it.

Supposedly AMC studios spend $3,075,000 per episode and they make around $11 million in return after the release of each episode.

AMC usually release teaser trailers a couple of months before the shows first showing, they do this around the time of a Comic-con to hype up the show. When time gets closer to the release of the show, they create the release trailers and sometimes they make character trailers or group trailers to show the audience what they want to see. These trailers are shown on TV and occasionally on the internet. AMC usually make the main trailers up to 3 minutes and the teaser/character trailers are normally 30 to 40 seconds, they are mostly televised after 8pm as from of the trailers can be quite violent and they want to stick to the watershed rule.

Posters and Billboards are another way that AMC like to advertise The Walking Dead, the usually just give an image and tell the audience when the show is starting/the dates the trailers might be released. They usually place these posters/billboards in urban areas, on the sides of buildings or above motorways etc.
